Learn the basics of rock climbing. This course is designed for novice climbers and those new to outdoor climbing. You will learn all the skills necessary to climb in a top-rope system. After covering skills and technique you will have open time to test it on the rock. All necessary rock climbing gear will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

This course contains two classes:

Climbing 101

Half Day ~ 4 hrs.

  • Rock climbing safety
  • Basic equipment
  • Fundamental knots
  • Belaying
  • Commands and communication
  • Movement technique

Climbing 201

Half Day ~ 4 hrs.

  • Basic top-rope anchor construction
  • Anchor cleaning
  • Rappelling
  • Rappel back-ups
  • More knots and technique

This course is for those who are comfortable top-rope climbing and are ready to advance. It builds upon the Beginner Course to teach you everything you need to go climbing on your own. All necessary rock climbing gear will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

This course contains 2 classes:

Learn to Lead

Half Day ~ 4 hrs.

  • Lead technique
  • Leader safety
  • Lead belay
  • Basic top-rope anchors
  • Lead equipment overview

All About Anchors

Half Day ~ 4 hrs.

  • Principles of anchor building
  • Key knots
  • Natural and fixed anchor options
  • Redirects
  • Safety considerations
  • System checks

Leave the bolts behind to open up endless climbing possibilities. Build upon the skills you learned in the Intermediate Course to be able to tackle crack climbing and protection as well as how to climb multiple rope lengths. All necessary rock climbing gear will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

This course contains 2 classes:

Traditional (Trad) Protection

Half day ~ 4 hrs

  • Trad gear overview
  • Gear placement and assessment
  • Principles in trad anchors
  • Crack climbing technique

Multi-pitch Skills

Half Day ~ 4 hrs

  • Top belaying
  • Rope management
  • Rappel techniques
  • Multi-pitch communication
